Redesigns
Not happy with your current website? Contact me and I can give you a brief, obligation-free review of your site, taking into consideration issues such as:
- Search engine readiness – is your website coded and structured in a way that search engines can easily find and index its content? Does your listing on the search engine results page convey the right information to cause the searcher to click on the link to your site?
- Usability – sometimes it can be hard to take that step back and see your business as your customers see it. What seems obvious to you may not be obvious to your site visitors, and you could be losing business because people leave your site without having found the information they needed, or the action required on their part was not obvious. As well as running a fresh set of eyes over your site, I also keep up-to-date on the latest website usability studies, so have a good idea of some the pitfalls that website owners often fall into.
- Accessibility- can your website be used equally by all your visitors, regardless of what sort of technology they are using to access the web? A visually impaired person may use a screen reader to read the content of the site to them. Someone with motor impairments may not be able to use a mouse, and may need to navigate using the keyboard. People using iPhones or iPads won’t be able to see anything that uses Flash, and users of all types of mobile devices may be thwarted by a layout that breaks up when viewed on a very small screen.
- Web standards and cross-browser compatibility – inexperienced designers often make the mistake of building a site so that it looks good on their own computer, but don’t realise that someone using a different browser, operating system or screen size may be seeing something completely different. I test all websites in Internet Explorer 7, 8, and 9, and in the current versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. Using standards-compliant code is the best way to future-proof your site, with all browsers moving more and more towards full standards compliance with each new release.
